History of the Wrist Watch
From pocket watch to a fashion accessory. What was once, in the earliest years of portable watches, considered to be unsuitable for men and only for women, has developed nowadays into a fashion utensil that everybody has. Meanwhile, the wristwatch is no longer just a instrument to tell which time it is. It is a designer piece and can indicate much more than the time.
A great deal of mechanics in a small housing
The first confirmable portable timepiece was constructed in 1500. This was not a wrist watch, but more of a pocket watch. Through technical progress, which made it possible for people to house mechanics in an progressively smaller space, the needed components of the clockworks were able to be brought into a manageable form. In this way, the first pocket watch was born, which at the time was still the size of an egg.
The computerized wrist watch from Japan
A totally different wristwatch came onto the market in the 1970’s from Japan, which had developed its own watch industry. The new wristwatch from Japan was no more set on a mechanical basis, but on a computerized control. This wrist watch extended its range of capacity quickly. The wristwatch no more just showed the time. The small timepiece on the wrist now also knew the date, the day of the week and even knew whether a leap year was involved.
The wristwatch as jewelry
Nowadays, the wrist watch is much more than a watch. The wristwatch has become a fashion accessory. Wrist watches come in all colours and shapes cogitable. One can also buy harmonious watches from every fashion collection. The current watches are dominated by the correct fashion trends. Despite these different trends, there is something for every taste. The small watches, which require glasses to tell the time, and the extravagant huge watches, which make it hard to walk upright. By all means, one thing is sure: science is still likely to make so much advance - that the wrist watch will be found on the wrists of people for a long time, to respond to the question as to what time it is.

Top Tips for Choosing the Right Bedsheet - it Is Gripping
Till some years back bedding used to be made from white cotton cloth. You are amazed at the range of unique bedding that are on offer nowadays. Bedding was never so beautiful with the vibrant colourings, prints and textures that are offered in bedding today
The following are some factors that matter a lot when you purchase a bed sheet.
Measure the sizing of your bed
Though we are all aware what a twin or king or queen sizing bed is, many of us dont know that there are no general dimensions for these kinds of beds. Usually the top measurings dont differ a lot but the other dimensions vary with each bed manufacturer. Due to this variant in the proportions, it is safe to measure all the proportions and the depth of your mattress too. Often similar beds from the same brand are taller or wider than each other. When you have your beds proportions with you, choosing a bedsheet is easier.
Zero down on the Bed storehouse
You will find a lot of top names in bed linen available in a departmental store near you. For a unique look, some people also go for embroidered with sequins. The Internet is full with fresh new designs every day. The basic are sold in discount shops for a small cost.
Familiarise yourself with thread count in bed sheets
The amount of threads that are present in a square inch of the sheet in back and forth direction of its weave is known as thread count. The label of the bed sheet has the thread count printed on it. A lush texture calls for a high thread count. Beware of a very high thread count as the sheet may have slimmer threads and not the texture you want. A soft bed sheet has a thread count that lies between 175 and 250.
Decide on material for your bedsheet
A material that is reasonably priced and feels nice to sleep on is the one for you. Though cotton fiber is the most preferable material, some people go for the cotton blends as they do not wrinkle. A crisp night calls for a flannel bed sheet. Then there is the all time preferred silk, satin or microfiber that offers luxury.
bedsheet Care
You need to know how the bedsheet has to be cleaned prior to purchasing one. Though silk bed sheets feel sensuous, they have to be dry cleaned each week. Can you promise to do this? The best way is to buy comfortable sheets that can be machine washed.
Hope these six steps lead you to finding a perfect bedsheet for your bed.
What’s The Deal With Discussion Lists? (Part Three)
Why Do People Start Writing Discussion Lists?
Angela Gillaspie, who owns Southern Angel, says she created her list for a very simple reason. “I started the list because there were so many folks that wanted to read my writing, and I had a hard time remembering everyone’s addresses.”
Gillaspie’s list, which is a newsletter-type list where only she can post messages, was officially launched on March 24 and currently has 40 subscribers, most of whom joined after receiving an invitation from her. “I hope this list would make my subscribers smile and *think*,” she says. “I’m not trying to make money, I just want others to enjoy life. Making some one laugh is almost a religious experience, in my opinion!” The main thing that Gillaspie gets from the experience of being a list owner is “very useful feedback,” she says. “My list is currently humor-oriented.
Recently, on a whim, I sent out an inspirational story and immediately lost one subscriber. She claimed my stories were too long. Indeed that particular article was 1200 words, but the story right before that was a mere 320 words….so I really wonder if her true reason for leaving was because I used the word “Jesus” in my article. This prompted me to conduct a poll to see if my readers want inspiration *and* humor. So far, the majority wants both — but, I may create a separate list for the inspirational-type stories.” Gillaspie, who is a work-at-home programmer/analyst, freelance writer, and “proud Southern Momma,” created her list with the hope that her “readers will get a “lift to their day, a grin, and maybe even a big belly laugh knowing that there is a strange woman living in Alabama that experiences the same spilt milk, bad hair cuts, worms in the fridge, and missing toilet paper that they do.”
“I started The-Ethereal-Pen as a way to build a bit of community in the sci-fi/fantasy world that women seem to be over-looked in,” says Victoria, who runs a few group lists online. “I, myself, am a writer, and I know that exposure for stories is sometimes very hard to get. I set this group up as a way for female writers to get opinions and ideas about their on-going works, as well as possiblly getting editors and publishers to come and post a little bit about submission requirements and how to present their works to publishers.”
Victoria also owns Where-Is-Love, which she created “because, well, it was a rant. I got tired of seeing women being objects for sexual abuse and torture,” Victoria says. “I found it hard to believe that these sexual fantasies were considered all there was in the world of Erotica, and so, I created Where-Is-Love as a means for women to express passion, love and sex, in a very positive light with no vicutums and no violence. They are free to post stories, poems, ideas thoughts or whatever is on their mind, whether on-topic or not. The basic idea was to get over the modesty and down to the real heart of love.”
“Then, I decided to make it a e-group as well, to further the feeling of community among the web-sites,” she added. She says she gets a lot out of her experience as a list owner. “I know this sounds hokey, but I really do get alot of satisfaction that I’ve brought people together in a “safe” environment to share ideas and thoughts on the subject matters regarding the list, or not, depending on the case.
I think one of the best things we get from e-groups is friends,” Victoria says. “I would like the members of each group to get what they put into it. Participation is what makes a group strong and happy. Sure lists can get petty and mean, but I think as long as you can start off with a general understanding that we are all here to grow and learn from each other, it’s a bit easier to listen to what other people have to say.”
“I wanted to find a serious list where working novelists would discuss the art and craft of writing fiction. I couldn’t find one,” says Melisse, MJ Rose, who runs The Novelists. “I belong to many lists and wanted one that was not chatty - though I have nothing against chatty - so I created the list I wanted.”
Rose started her list a year ago and currently she has about 100 subscribers. What she gets from the experience is simple - “Great dialog between serious writers about the craft of writing,” she says. “The biggest problem - since its not chatty - unless we are in the midst of dicussing a topic - the list gets slow.”

PHPBB2: All It Can Be?
Please allow me to start off and say that I am very happy to run PHP software on my computer. Specifically, the bulletin boards developed by PHPBB2 [an open source program] works head and shoulders above the EZBoard system I gave up on several months earlier. Still, it has its own special challenges that only a regular user or administrator can appreciate. If you are considering starting your own message board community please read on for some homespun advice on how to make PHPBB2 work best for you.
On Memorial Day 2005 I had a rude awakening. Although a national holiday here in the U.S. I was taking advantage of that day to catch up on some much needed behind the scenes work. You see, when you work for yourself a holiday just isn’t the same thing. It ends up being a day where your phone isn’t likely to ring all that much, thereby making it a better opportunity to catch up on all the little niggling details of operating a business, like paying bills and bookkeeping. Okay, I digress.
What happened on that special day was the total overthrow of the EZBoard message board system. Hackers, so EZBoard claimed, infiltrated their entire system and brought down the house. Literally overnight thousands of boards were affected and compromised. Now for the rub: forum managers, myself included, had no power to back up their sites. Thus, what was lost was likely lost for good or would take many weeks to restore from pasted together backups. We depended on EZBoard for our back ups and when their system failed we all suffered.
So then the decision was made for me. I downloaded PHPBB2 software a few days later and immediately went to work.
As open source programs go the PHPBB2 software was free and the instructions were quite good. Fortunately for me the two sites that I planned to set up, the Aviation Employment Board and the Corporate Flight Attendant Community, already had separate web pages hosted with a company that could support a database. This particular MySQL database would essentially power the site and house important stuff including all the member information.
Fortunately those who have been working on building, maintaining, and promoting PHPBB have a copious amount of detailed information accessible right online and available for viewing and/or downloading. Personally, the biggest help to me were the excellently made Flash videos that helped walk me through the installation process. Without them in place, I doubt I would have figured it all out. Truly, in this case, a picture is worth a thousand words each!
In addition to the software itself, PHPBB2 also offers a separate file to help speed the process conversion process from EZBoard to PHPBB2. This EZBoard converter takes messages from the old board and transfers them to the new board. Unfortunately, it was only partially successful which could have been due to the hacked nature of the EZBoard site. Still, what I was able to move over was helpful, but it did not include member files as that bit of necessary information was under EZBoard’s lock and key.
By the time I downloaded everything, followed all the instructions, converted what I could from EZBoard, laid out the new site, and made some additional design changes, approximately eight hours had flown past. At the end of that time a useful and functioning board was in place. The next day I contacted all my current EZBoard members and told them about the switch and put notices on the old site about the change. Most of my members were very understanding as they realized that the switch had to be made.
Without exception PHPBB2 has been a big improvement. Still, it could use some refining and, happily, many of those refinements are routinely accomplished within regular updates of the software or via preselected “mods” that a forum manager can select.
Without belaboring the point here are some things that I have observed about PHPBB2 that are helpful to know about before going with the software:
Limited Support There is a lot of information right online to read and there are forums moderated by volunteers. At the same time the moderators are stretched very thin and sometimes their responses border on the irritated. Of course, that could have something to do with all the N00B questions, many of which are answered somewhere on the site. My recommendation is that you spend plenty of time reading before posting a question. Study the forum for similar questions asked and answers given.
Difficult Updates Get on the forum managers mailing list to ensure that you receive notification of each update as they are made. Some updates are simple while others are more difficult. If you make any modifications to your site then only a “patch” update is necessary while everyone else will select “changed files only.” If you select “changed files only” and you have some mods installed, you risk losing all of your mods. Let’s just say that already has happened to me once!
AOL Quirks Some members have difficulty signing up, especially AOL account holders. It seems to be that the confirmation code doesn’t always show up when members register [you don’t need to have it enabled, but it does put a halt to rogue registrants] and sometimes AOL users get booted when logged on. A little thing called “sessions” monitors everyone’s visits by examining their I.P. address for a match. Of course, AOL scrambles I.P. addresses mid-session, a reason for much of the booting. The fix involved from a PHPBB2 standpoint is not recommended as it puts you at risk for security breaches. Quite frankly, I have urged some members to leave AOL especially if they can’t work around it on their end.
Back Ups The administration panel is simple to use, but back ups don’t always work. Errors messages prevail; therefore backing up through your web host is another option. Speaking of the administration panel, you can select whether members can email each other [not a good thing to have enabled], how long their signature can be, enable automatic pruning of posts, and lots more. Indeed, the features offered by PHPBB2 far exceed the limitations that are inherent with EZBoard.
There are alternative forums to PHPBB2 and one popular one is another PHP program called vBulletin. vBulletin utilizes excellent forum software that takes off where PHPBB2 leaves off. Many of the modifications that are not part of PHPBB2 are standard with vBulletin, therefore removing some of the behind the scenes tasks that a webmaster must do with PHPBB2 in order to customize his site.
So, why not go with vBulletin? For many it is simply the cost. With vBulletin, you can lease a license for $85 for one year or buy a license for $160. Access to updates after the first year costs another $30 per year while custom support can run from $30 for one month up to $300 for one year. Thus, if you have a small forum that makes little or no money, and you need extra special assistance, than vBulletin can be a big expense to carry. Other paid forums have similar expenses, but there are some free ones out there. For the record, EZBoard isn’t free, although the start up cost is very low. However, your renewal fee is calculated on the amount of bandwidth used in the most recent thirty day period and for some forum managers that amount could easily be several hundreds to well over one thousand dollars!
So then, why go with PHPBB2? Well, language packs to name a big reason. Besides English forums, an additional 59 languages are supported by this open source code! From Afrikaans to Vietnamese, Arabic to Russian, and from French to German, PHPBB2 is available in many native languages. For people of very limited means this has become an excellent way to communicate for no capital outlay. One gets the sense that PHPBB2 is very proud of this fact and I must admit that I am too!
As I write this I am in the midst of updating my two sites to the latest release. Because it is near the Christmas season I am also looking at several themed templates for my flight attendant site and have selected a “Merry Christmas” board replete with drifting down snowflakes. This template, which looks so professionally done, is free as well.
I plan on sticking with PHPBB2, quirks and all, by continuing to support our growing community of forum managers worldwide. Each of us, in our own way, has helped to shape this all important piece of open source software. It certainly isn’t perfect, but it definitely has been a lot of fun and has helped me to increase my knowledge as well as to appreciate the whole open source movement.
Copyright 2005 — Matt Keegan invites you to visit his two open source message boards, the Aviation Employment Board and the Corporate Flight Attendant Community for first hand examples of forums built utilizing PHPBB2.
5 Great Tips To Make Your Goals Your Reality
Goals are a great tool for motivation. But if you don’t use them correctly, they can also be a source of frustration. Goals are only empowering if they are used properly. So how do you make a goal into something that is a benefit for you?
Goal-setting strategies are important especially for to help you create the type of success you desire and deserve. Here are five goal-setting techniques to help you realize them.
1. Balance Your Goals: In your life you will have personal development goals, personal finance goals and things goals. Don’t neglect any of them. It is ok to want things, but don’t forget to balance those pursuits with your own growth as a person. All of these goals are important so be clear about all of them and make them real for you.
2. Plan Actions From Your Goals: Goals are not items for your to do list. Your goal is what you are striving for. Plan specific actions that lead you towards those goals. Use the goals to provide your compass for those actions. When you plan actions for the day you can easily tell if they’re going to be effective if you have clear goals to compare them against.
3. Share Your Goals: If you were an archer, would you keep it a secret that your goal is to hit the bull’s-eye? Too many keep their goals a secret. Share your goals with people who will support and encourage your aims.
4. Write Down Your Goals: Make your goals real by recording them. Put copies of your goals on index cards and keep copies in the car and in the bathroom and review them regularly. Make them the center of your focus. Don’t just set them and then ignore them. Your goals are like a compass to tell you which way to go. The exciting part is that you get to chose the alignment of your compass.
5. Don’t Give Up: Your goals and the actions you take to get them are different things. Don’t be afraid to try something, fail and try something else. Take effective and massive action to meet your goals and understand that any true goals will take many steps to achieve. Sometimes you will make a misstep, but that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the goal. Everyone makes mistakes, but it’s only those who abandon their goals who don’t achieve them.

Four Tactics to Pack Fans Into Your E-mail List
Have you been dreaming of a huge email list? The kind of list that with one click of the “send” button hordes of fans mobilize to come to see your shows, or play your new track at garageband.com? If not, then shame on you.
A well maintained and growing email list is a mighty tool. Why? Because it provides a quick and easy way to keep in front of your adoring fans, and it is absolutely FREE.
The sad thing is most artists drop the ball on building this marketing powerhouse. So, in an effort to stop this atrocity, I decided to give you four simple and effective tactics to build that list.
1. Migidy Mic Check…
Your standing on stage, maybe the beach balls are floating atop the crowd, or the mosh pit has attracted the state police, or maybe the fans are singing so loud you can’t hear your stage monitors. Whatever your situation, the fact of the matter is that you have human beings sitting right in front of you, hanging off of your every word, wanting to become your fans.
Do you realize the power of this moment? Right now your audience is focused on one thing - you. And as hard as it may be to believe, at this very moment, more than anything else, they want more of you. How do you give them what they want? Speak up and offer to get connected.
Tell your audience in your own genuine words that your email list is the way you stay connected to your fans. It is how you pass on latest news and how you notify of your upcoming gigs.
Simple and effective. Do not let one gig pass without asking your fans to get connected.
2. Give it away now…
Ok, you know the value of seizing the moment while you’re at the microphone, now lets make signing up a little more enticing.
Do you like free stuff? Who doesn’t? We are suckers for trinkets and giveaways. Now just imagine if you were to offer your fans an opportunity to get something more valuable than a mere trinket. What if you offered them the opportunity to win one of your T-shirts or autographed CDs, or [wait for it…] Both! Oh my, the pandemonium, the crowd goes nuts.
How would this work? Simply hold a contest where the entry form is a piece of paper that asks for your fan’s first name and email address. It’s that simple. You exchange the chance to win one CD (your cost under $2) and a T-shirt (your cost around $5) in exchange for the email address of the members of your audience. If the cost of giving away a few pieces of much merch bothers you, just think of the value of only one new fan dragging a friend to your next show, shelling out two covers charges, selling a t-shirt to the friend and both of them telling others at work about their experience… Lets move on.
3. Something Of Value
Ask yourself what the real objective of the contest mentioned above is? Let me tell you plainly, the objective is to mutually exchange something of value. You offer something of value to your fans in exchange for something of value to you. A surprisingly high value item to your fans is a simple old-fashioned newsletter. You know, the thing with silly facts and stories about you? Offer this gem in exchange for something of value to you - your fan’s email address. This is an easy sell because you need their email address to send the newsletter right? It is a natural win-win situation so use it.
4. Point of Sale
Now were at the end of the show and people are flocking to your merch table. Your latest self-titled CD is flying off the shelf. Your fans are even picking up that illegible sticker that was designed by your crazy cousin Fred. Are you going to just let them walk away without offering them the chance to stay connected to the band that they just layed down their hard earned cash to buy a recording of?
You have a perfect opportunity while you are counting out their change to “ask them” to sign your concert connection and stay connected to the band. What’s the worse they can do, say no?
There you go four tactics you can use tonight to pack fans into your mighty email list. That should get you going. Remember it is the simple and effective tactics performed flawlessly over and over that make you successful. Don’t miss a beat and watch that email list grow.

Technology, Or Crutches?
Having made it my business to look for divine shortcuts, I discovered early on that every bit of human technology is being made for an aid to finally discover that we really don’t need technology at all.
Yes, insanity, at first, but really ingenious, for this revelation is the ultimate shortcut. Insanity is so close to genius, because they need each other.
Can I prove my insane statement, or will you turn the other way and never ‘listen’ again?
It really is up to you, for you, individually, are asked to find God, which is your ONLY purpose on earth.
However, I am able to help.
The breadcrumbs of symbolism and specs of enlightenment are surrounding all of us equally, yet all depends on how we look. Nothing in regards to ‘quantity’ matters, for the supply is unlimited, and sufficient space provided. Quality (to BE), on the other (right-eous) hand, is all that matters.
Had we known that we CAN in fact fly, a matter with which many of us have become acquainted in our dreams, why would we need airplanes and helicopters (oh, well, yes, for the military).
Who ‘transports’ the birds? Does He who transports them ever need move, or isn’t He already everywhere, and the birds move within Him?
Birds are Symbols for finding God within, who would TRANSPORT (Philip) us as well, when we let Him.
This automatically eradicates whole industries, in the ‘food-chain’ below airplanes (cars, petrol, insurance…).
As usual, there’s more.
If we know that God is already everywhere and speaks through all of us, do we REALLY need a phone, an Internet, a letter mailing service, etc.?
If our true image is perfect, do we need doctors, medicine, hospitals?
If we can modify in metamorphosis, hidden from sight, ANYTHING & EVERYTHING about ourselves, do we need slimming products, creams and potions, cosmetic surgery, or exercise equipment, hypnosis, predictions, procedures, processes?
By now, you can see, where I am going?
Not yet?
To Armageddon.
The upheaval upon this revelation will be like an earth-quake, for ONLY the play & game, the recreation & enjoyment related industries will thrive, while all others falter.
Judgment day will be everyday, when individuals can no longer hide behind their money as an accomplishment, behind their actions as worthwhile and behind their ’sickness’, ‘old age’, ‘accidents’ & ‘death’ as regular fate.
Armageddon, the spiritually pre-determined destruction, will topple all that is not part of the plot.
Technology will serve for fun and play, but minimized to choice, and not ascribed to necessity.
Our technology is symbolism on the way to acquire God-power, the power of instant manifestation.
Winery? Or water into wine? Work and time? Or instant gratification?
Why delay your gratification?
You can have ALL now, and none of it must have existed prior to your desiring it.
The scriptures tell us that God HATED hairy Esau (supposed permanent reality), who swapped his entire INHERITANCE for a bowl of soup (earthly material existence) and that Abel was murdered.
Who murdered Abel, the able-body that talks every one out of innovative possibility and has all the reasons NOT to do something, while holding on to everything that ALREADY materialized (herding sheep)? Cain - the I CAN guy, the tiller of the ground, or spiritual substance, who God HID and protected 7 times, thus REWARDED for the act. Whom did God LOVE? Jacob, the supplanter, who supplants what supposedly IS with what CAN BE and receives the name (nature) IS REAL (Israel).
Listen, if I say, we can fly, it is already so, for what we think we seek has already found us, before we think it. God runs us perfectly through our inner tuition from the right brain hemisphere. By the time we start thinking interpretative thought, weakened by error (evil) and sin (missing the mark), our body (hologram) has already followed His command.
Sigmund Freud proved many, many years ago that human interpretative thinking is completely SUPERFLUOUS.
Do you believe me now, that applicable wisdom is opposite of human ‘knowledge’?
All that technology is it has become because of humanity’s unawareness of our ONE God running the place and being everything from the fly to the mountain.
Technology means crutches for un-believers, for Jews (those who know God) will soon take advantage of the all paid-for ride of their lives to the point when the remainder of humanity drop their crutches, too.
It is so close, closer than ’soon’, in fact, AT HAND.

Dr. Ina Bliss invites you to THINK AGAIN. http://www.telechurch.org
